About Me

Sonja Donnelly
Figurative acrylic paintings: Sonja Donnelly is an American Expressionist painter who depicts romantic beautiful women with stylized theatrical flair. She cuts to the basics of her subject presenting them with drama and exciting color. Sonja believes that beauty, above all else, is of utmost importance to her work……….. A painting a day: Although the majority of Sonja’s paintings are large figurative works, she also has been producing small daily paintings in which she experiments with many new stiles, mediums and subjects. Sonja does her daily paintings in series of 5 to 7 paintings, then she moves on to paint something different………. Sculpture: Sculpture and three dimensional works have also always fascinated Sonja. Her wood assemblages are very fluid and dramatic nonobjective works………. Sonja’s creative spirit comes through in every facet of her life, whether she is in her studio, out creating in her beautiful garden or photographing the world around her. Sonja says “It is in my blood to be making beautiful things, I am happiest when I am creating something.”
